Minister of Transport Binali Yıldırım expressed; “ This nation has managed to live together in peace and solidarity with different denominations, religious orders, ethnic roots in Anatolia over a thousand years, and has the power to succeed and enhance this ever after. In this regard, what the separatist flanks try to do, are useless.” Making a speech at the 167th anniversary celebration programme, Yıldırım, declared that they have been working to develop projects for increasing the PTT services since the first day he was appointed.

Expressing that the basic thing for 167 year old PTT is not to stop but to go on adapting itself to the modifying conditions, Yıldırım stated that the PTT Bank project had been realised in 2004.
Yıldırım explained; “It is a great improvement that PTT has changed in 2003 from an institution which could hardly sustain its expenses into an institution today that has been not only serving our millions of citizens and carrying their posts and goods, but also reducing the burden on state treasury.
Yıldırım expressed that the key of this success was to see serving the citizens as a reward.
Stating that the number of personnel decresed from over 35 thousand to less tahn 30 thousand, Yıldırım declared that however, PTT has widened its service network and fields.
Yıldırım said that PTT has been making 18 million transactions monthy, and moreover, has started another project for renovating the PTT workplaces.
Expressing that great nations have great difficulties, Yıldırım told that from time to time there were persons who attempt to put obstacles into Turkey's way on its struggle of future, and try to slow down.
Yıldırım told; “ This is a natural result of being a great civilization and nation. Everbody does not take into account all nations and all countries. One of the countries deserving the care is Turkey having no experience of slavery for 2500 years. This nation has managed to live together in peace and solidarity with different denominations, religious orders, ethnic roots in Anatolia over a thousand years, and has the power to succeed and enhance this ever after. In this regard, what the separatist flanks try to do, are useless.”
Expressing that 14th Balkanfila Stamp Exhibition will take place in Istanbul between 28 October-3 November in consequence of the 167th foundation anniversary of PTT, Yıldırım said; “This actvity should not be missed by philatelists.” Yıldırım reminded that all Balkan States will participate to this organisation hosted by PTT.
General Director of PTT Osman Tural expressed that they had started an improvement action in PTT in 2003. Stating that almost all of the PTT Banks were on-line connected with each other, Tural declared that; “We put all the state-of-the-art technologies into service of our citizens. PTTs became collection centers.” |

Reminding that 116 kinds of transactions concerning with 98 institutions and enterprises were realised in PTT Banks, Tural declared that all these improvements had an effect on PTT’s revenues and profitability.
Tural explained that; ''We ended 2006 having 203 million NTL profit. The target for 2007 was 230 million NTL. The figures of September show that we will be able to reach our target. The greatest contibution in this success is from counter officers and postmen.”
